Since 1898 Fairy has been filling sinks with suds and kitchens with shiny, clean dishes. Even now, in 2016, Fairy is still the go-to washing up liquid for hundreds and thousands of families all over the world. It’s estimated that an incredible 20.4 million bars of Fairy soap are used every year. Today the name embraces a whole host of products, which are famous for their mildness, longevity and value: a household soap, toilet soap, a washing-up liquid, and a range of both powder and liquid laundry detergents.

The 1950’s saw the development of a brand new product, Fairy Liquid. It came about due to a growing demand for specialist products for particular jobs. At the end of 1960, after its first full year on the market, six out of every ten consumers had bought a bottle, the market for washing-up liquid had doubled and Fairy Liquid became the number one product in the market.

Throughout its journey, Fairy has always been accompanied by one loyal companion, our baby, Bizzie. Bizzie first appeared in our adverts in the early thirties and featured in a strip cartoon and even on the side of two R.A.F. Spitfires before becoming a permanent fixture on all our products.

Capsule

The Capsule

As the household modernised and kitchens adapted to the ever-increasing pace of family life, it was key for Fairy to introduce a product that could keep up. 2006 saw the launch of the Automatic Dishwasher capsule, now known as Fairy Platinum; a capsule so powerful, it can tackle even the toughest of stains.

Fairy is proud to have been apart of family life for over 60 years and through continued research, development and scientific breakthrough, long may it continue.
